How can I connect via SSH without Java?

If you use MS Windows we suggest getting Putty from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

This client is completely free and so far it is one of the most popular ssh clients for MS Windows. When you run Putty it will ask you for the hostname or IP address of the remote server, type your VPS IP address, then change port from 22 (the default) to the one, listed in your welcome email (We use an alternate port for security reasons) and click "Open". You will be asked for login name, type "root" and then your root password to get into your VPS as root.
